Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay, born August 24, 1972, in Long Beach California. DuVernay learned to love the arts from her aunt Denise. DuVernay worked as an evening nurse in order to give her aunt the time she needed throughout the day to indulge in the passion of literature, art as well as theatre. After graduation, she studied at the University of California Los Angeles and earned degrees both in English and African American study. DuVernay began producing television news as a young student. DuVernay was a CBS News intern during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay was able to recall being assigned the task of watching the residence and scrutinizing the garbage from one of the jury. In the course of her work she was dissatisfied with journalism and moved into the public relations industry. DuVernay got her first job as a publicity specialist in an unassuming production studio straight after she graduated from school. The DuVernay Agency is her first PR agency. Apart from PR, the agency developed several lifestyle websites like Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful.
